Active Luton is a Leisure Trust and operates 10 sites in and around Luton at present, most of our sites were built in the 70's and are in need of refurbishment and most are very inefficient in terms of energy usage, with prices rising as they are, it was essential that Active Luton do something to reduce both Co2 emissions and the level of expenditure on utilities
I was initially made aware of Pure World's existence by my Chief Executive who had met a couple of their representatives at a trade fair, and as a result, suggested I get in touch.
We had had previously had a number of surveys of our buildings done by the Carbon Trust and their recommendations fitted in reasonably well with the package that Pure World were offering
I have now completed 2 projects with Pure World and although it is early days yet the results are showing a 19% saving on one site and 23% on the second.
Pure world install on the basis that they will guarantee 12% savings and if they can't do that they will take all the kit out again and leave you in peace at no cost.
They obviously have a good relationship with some very competent contractors who come in and blat the place with kit in around 2 weeks all told with very little disruption to service (think we lost an hour at one of the sites whilst they had the mains electric supply shut down)
The money for the projects came from Carbon Trust Loans which we have to pay back over 3 years but early indications are that both projects will pay for themselves in about 1 and a half years. Pure World staff have a good knowledge of what the Carbon Trust need to justify giving the loans and will present the information to the Carbon Trust for you.
I have another loan in the pipeline and will therefore be starting at another site soon - that will take the total loans to a level of about 125K
In terms of savings they have well exceeded their estimates and in terms of contract management Pure World take care of all that for the customer so it's really non-sensical to try and run a project yourself as all the hassle of getting the right contractors together at the same time is removed by Pure World.
